About the role

As a Subsurface Engineering Intern, you will support the Subsurface team in developing engineering standards, benchmarking industry best practices, and improving well design and operational workflows for carbon capture and storage (CCS) projects.

During this three-month internship, you will gain hands-on exposure to well engineering, subsurface operations, and emerging CCS technologies while contributing to real engineering projects that help shape our internal technical standards and future field developments.

What you'll do

  • Conduct technical benchmarking of industry best practices, standards, and pilot projects related to CCS well design and well operations.
  • Support the development of in-house engineering guidelines, standards, and best practice documents to improve the standardization of subsurface engineering and operational workflows.
  • Collaborate with subsurface engineers to review technical documentation, prepare engineering reports, and contribute to internal knowledge-sharing initiatives.
  • Support the Subsurface team in the planning and execution of ongoing projects, including providing engineering, operational, and field support where appropriate.

What we're looking for

  • Hold a degree in Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Previous internship or practical experience within the oil & gas, energy, or CCS industry is preferred.
  • Comfortable reviewing technical literature and translating engineering concepts into clear, well-structured technical documentation.
  • Well-organised and able to manage your workload independently while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Curious, proactive, and genuinely motivated by the energy transition and the application of subsurface engineering to CCS projects.

Nice to have

  • A monthly internship allowance.
  • Hands-on experience working on real projects alongside a passionate and supportive team.
  • Learning and development opportunities in a fast-growing climate technology start-up.
  • The chance to contribute to innovative solutions that are helping tackle climate change.

Education

A degree in Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
